Nate Dogg, Chach and I decided to throw down at the TNT tuesday night time trial.  Nate dogg and I rode out there accompanied by our domestique Nick (ND's soon to be bad ass offspring).  Nick forgot the food, water and information part of his job as domestique,  but we got him to pull a mile or two on the way out.

After some massages by greg from FIT,  we got to the start,  me having a 30 second head start on ND.  The course is 11 miles (5.5 out and thusly 5.5 back) and starting with a sizeable climb of about 1/4 mile.  this puts you in the pain cave quite early and saps all your power in the first minute.  By mile 3 I was breathing like a hyperventalating kid in a disney store,  and the pain moved from my calves to my quads to my hip flexors and just hung out there.  I tried to stay low and keep working,  but shifting down after a hill was like punching yourself in the face on a cold day in january.  I turned around the cone to see nate dogg in hot pursuit.  I also saw john shelp coming up hot as well,  nate is a bad ass,  but this guy is fast as well.  I tried to put the hammer down but the hammer was now made of rubber and filled with helium,  so it was not exactly dropping.

John passed me at about mile 8,  and I kept him in site as I climbed the last hill.  the snot and drool was both up and down my face,  not sure how that happened and I was a bumbling idiot,  I couldn't really see straight as I gave it all I had on the final decent to the finish line.  I about vomited when I stopped by chach and nick,  and watched nate come in around 30 seconds after me.

turns out it was 25 seconds after me,  the bastard beat me by 5 seconds,  and chach beat us both by over a minute.  good for 26:18, 19th place and 25MPH avg.  hopefully next time I can break 26 minutes.

Nate and I had to ride the hour and a half back home with the last 25 in the dark...not cool.  we probably averaged 20mph on the way home which was cool as I thought we were going to average 4mph.

First time over 25MPH on a TT,  so I am stoked about that.  I didn't sleep at all last night from the dehydration and leg pain,  but it was worth it.
