1.) it is less about the wet suit as it is about the lame cops who feel that swimming outside of the 20 foot swim area is a crime. Many a tridonk has been busted for the city lake swim. usually it is the suburb cops that have nothing better to do, but in this case, the "man" is trying to keep us fat and on the streets robbing people vs. in the lakes burning off last nights cheesecake. Christmas lake is a favorite for lake swims.
Longer races, longer transition times, I am not the best person to ask about transitions as mine are typically quite long and distinguished, my good friend chach actually adjusts his hat, hair, socks, watch, and anything else he can distract himself with before getting to the next event, where as our good friend nate dogg barely stops long enough to be seen. most people where thier race stuff under thier wetsuit and for the entire day. the key (I think) to any triathlon gear, is the pad for the bike...just me though some people race in speedos.
the longer the race the more important nutrition....under 90 minutes don't worry about it, over 90 start thinking about it...over 4 hours, it will have a huge affect.
real food? is that like twinkies? or like turkey? I will post the magic formula for yam sauce...peanut butter, yams, honey.....salt. yum.
